This group aims to start the discussion about the four themes that will be debeted in the IGF in Diplo IG debates.

Ginger, I am still with the idea of pushing through with "rights" as the next theme for the IGF. Also, RP should be highlighted more on the next OC. Will definitely make it to the IGF 10. ;)

In which ways the capacity building provided by Diplo has helped you and your community in Internet governance issues? (Question only for IGCBP Alumni)
It has strengthened my resolve to push for ICT Education and the Empowerment of Women and Youth in the grassroots community in my country. Most of the social and political issues are always intertwined and we have different players in that sphere working for different causes but not knowing that all theses players and stakeholders are working on the "common good." Hence, I am all for open access to learning because it opens doors for further education and innovative courses in higher learning that would allow Filipinos to understand the concept of "real involvement." Innovative ideas become irrelevant when threaded in politics. If we open doors to innovation, then it would stop mediocrity that is flourishing in most developing countries. Issues are here because it needs people to get involved and through IG, something has been done in this era.

Supernova Hub 2009 - A Thought Leadership Forum for Change in the Network Age

I heard about the Supernova Hub through slideshare while I was uploading my presentation on Online Education during the IGF09 at Sharm. Slideshare's Rashmi Sinha is one of the presenter. If I were probably living near San Francisco, I would attend it. Sounds like an interesting event. So I am sharing this link to those interested or who have attended the Supernova Hub and might share some thoughts to some of us about the event. Would appreciate it! Perhaps maybe next year I can try to make it.… Continue

APNIC 27 - Internet Governance Pulong & ISOC PH

This is a long overdue posting for the APNIC 27 held last February 24, 2009 in Manila. I traveled to Manila and attended this event for the Internet Governance Pulong ("pulong" is a Tagalog word that means "meeting"). ISOC PH (Internet Society Philippines Chapter) recently rejuvenated and participated in this event. Below is the event details and transcripts:

Check this: Your International Travel Record

I always seem to find interesting articles at 1:00 AM Philippine time. Just when I am about to shut down my laptop and go to bed - here I am speculating the enormity of how anyone's travel can be recorded by Homeland Security. The link below is the actual experience of the blogger requesting his travel records. I must be that ignorant and not realizing that airline companies do give out our travel information. Should we be alarmed? Did we somehow give our consent to the airline companies to give… Continue

Hi Cha, ISOC.PH just rejuvenated. If you can see in the www.isoc.ph, I'm there now as part of the board. We just had the nomination and election of officers among members who wish to rejuvenate it. You can email rejuvenate@isoc.ph for membership. It would be good to have you in. :)

No problem... you seem very busy there. I'm proud that you're with Diplo now carrying our flag. Hope others can make well too. My experience was not good during the second phase of our Diplo IGCBP unfortunately. The group was not able to deliver as expected. I got pulled in the process. Anyway... would be good to participate again in the discussion.

Hey charity, thanks for your comment and Happy New Year! You have a lot of things going on in your page. :) I hope 2009 will be another blessed year for you.

Regarding your inquiry, PSITE has chapters in every region. What region do you belong? It is open to all IT educators/enthusiasts. There are two types of membership. Individual at P500/year and Institutional at P2000/year. The national convention is set this February in Dakak. It will be a good opportunity to become a member. Current PSITE president is Dr. Jimmy Caro and secretary is Gracie Tyler. You can reach her at graceftyler_spcf@yahoo.com. She can help direct you to the proper PSITE chapter. Good Luck!

hey cha - tks for sharing the intl media studies deadline! very interesting.

if you leave the event as it is, tomorrow it will disappear from the listing (though it will still be in the database) - I would suggest that you edit it, putting the event with the date of the deadline for the applications

happy holidays!

Hi there. I looked at KFC but opted for Hard Rock Cafe. At least it had tables to sit at. KFC drink machine wasn't working when I was there.

I looked at the KFC at the airport but opted for the Hard Rock cafe cos they had chairs and a table. I commented on this at the kiosk asking for feedback about the Airport. Glad we were able to share time together after the forum. Wish I'd had more money when we were shopping. C'est la vie.

Hi there. I looked at the KFC but their drink machine wasn't working and I didn't think that I could eat the meal without a drink, so I opted for a burger and a drink at a comfortable table at the Hard Rock cafe. It was very nice. I spent a bit on my card at the shops though. Interestingly although I had to wait for nearly 3 hours for the flight the time went by quite quickly. Did you fill in the questionnaire at the kiosk? I did. Told them that the chairs weren't comfortable to sit on for 3 hours and there weren't enough tables to work on a computer if you were trying to get some work done. But the toilets were clean and tidy (had something positive to say too!) Glad we were able to find some free time together. I enjoyed our shopping spree. Wish I'd had more money.

Hi Charity it would be really good to be able to meet up with members of our initial Internet Governance group. You inspired us to continue. Who would have thought someone from my little Pacific Island would make it to the big Forum in Hyderabad. See you there.
